Using fastener connections for structural simulation

by using pro/engineer wildfire version 2.0, fastener connections can be added to structural simulation, thus providing design feedback on component connectivity/load transfer and baseline connections. In this tip, you learn how to apply bolted connections and interpret the results

the following three types of bolts can be defined:

1 Screw fasteners

2 Through bolts in solid

3 Through bolts in the shell

basic bolts and advanced bolts can be set with other settings. The stiffness of the basic bolt, which will be tested in practice, is defined by the material and diameter. Advanced bolts support the following properties:

advanced bolts support preload

bolt stiffness can be defined using bolt diameter and material properties, Or define the bolt stiffness by specifying the spring stiffness attribute (KXX is the axial direction, kyy=kzz is the normal direction)

in the market, there are many 4-ball friction and wear testing machines for oil friction. The microcomputer controlled electro-hydraulic servo friction and wear testing machine automatically creates bolt specific measurements:

o tension (only after the preload is defined)

o tensile stress (only after the preload is defined)

o shear force

o shear stress

o stress in the separation area - if the "center distance of the pressure bearing roller of the solid conditioner; select the diameter of the bending center (pressure roller) as required to determine the separation" is set, you can know whether the bolt bears tension. More details are provided in the screw fastener description

the degree of freedom of rotation along the bolt axis can be specified as free or fixed. You can turn off shear stiffness

the following describes how to define different types of bolt connections:

screw fasteners (concealed bolts)

bolts combine two components in fasteners that achieve a group sales of 30.328 billion yuan, The fastener penetrates into one of the two components (Fig. 1)

reference refers to the edges of the two holes in the combined components (Fig. 2)

create the "head" of the bolt at the position where the first curve is selected. The selected second curve is the "top" of the hole into which the bolt penetrates. The two parts can be in contact (without clearance), and a "free connection" will be automatically added at the contact surface to prevent the two parts from merging into one
